5 Signs it is Time for a Wheel Alignment

When a vehicle rolls out of the factory, if no one stopped it, it would likely keep rolling in a straight line until some other force acted on it. The key word here is straight. All vehicles are designed to easily maintain the course of direction. If you find yourself battling the with steering wheel as you cruise down the highway don't let it win, take your car to the local mechanic to have the issue diagnosed, there is a good chance you just need a simple 2 or 4 wheel alignment. Pay attention to see if your car is having any of these symptoms of alignment issues.

Uneven Tire Wear

Regardless if you're having issues with your vehicle's control or not your should still occasionally check the tires for wear and tear. If you notice that the tread on one side of an axle is wearing differently than the tread on the other side there's a good chance there is an alignment issue. However this problem will likely be accompanied by one or more of the following.

Hard Pulling

Hard pulling means you physically have to hold the steering wheel to prevent the vehicle from drifting off the road and you can feel the car trying to turn one way or the other.

Soft Pulling

On the other side of the pulling spectrum is if you feel like your car drives fine when you have both hands on the wheel, but if you take them off the wheel for even a split second (not recommended ever) you may notice the car start to drift to the side.

Crooked Steering Wheel

Probably the most common sign that something is off kilter is a crooked steering wheel. If your vehicle's steering wheel is at an odd angle but traveling straight, there is most definitely an alignment problem.

If your vehicle shakes and shivers as you drive down the highway it can mean that your tires are trying to go in opposite directions. Odd vibrations should always be diagnosed as they can lead to major problems.

If you suspect an alignment issue take your vehicle to a local auto shop that can diagnose and repair the problem. For wheel alignments in Ewing contact Ficarro's Auto Body.
