Preparing Your Car for Winter Driving

Winter is here! You know what that means, icy, snowy conditions on the roadways. Is your car ready for winter driving? There are a few things you can do in order to get your car, truck or SUV roadworthy for the season, but one of the best tips it to give yourself lots of space between you and the vehicle in front of you in order to avoid any potential accidents! However if you do need hit the streets be sure of the following.

Make sure your vehicle is up to date with scheduled maintenance by following the manufacturer's schedule for services to ensure your car is in optimal shape.

If your car has any current issues be sure to to have them repaired, as cold weather will only make them worse.

Replace worn wiper blades so that you can see clearly out of your windshield through any snow.

Check your battery to make sure it is tightly connected, that there is no corrosion on the terminals and that the fluid levels are right.

The days are short so make sure all your exterior lights, including headlights, turn signals, driving lights, brake lights, reverse lights and others all work for optimal safety and legality!

Check the tread on your tires. Will they give you enough traction in the snow?

Have your brakes checked to ensure you have sufficient braking power.

Test the heater and defroster for correct function, as these are necessary for safe and comfortable driving during the winter season.

Once you're out on the road, remember, drive slow and give yourself plenty of room to avoid an accident.
